Although HTC showed off the HTC Thunderbolt at CES 2011, the company was somewhat overshadowed by Motorola’s and LG’s new smartphones with their Tegra2-equipped dual-core chips powering them to unbelievable new levels of performance. Fortunately for HTC fans, the company wasn’t prepared to sit back and let its competitors take all the glory.

There is a rumor this morning that HTC’s first dual core smartphone, codenamed the HTC Pyramid, will land on T-Mobile by May. The new superphone will feature a dual-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon processor, 4.3 inch qHD display and support for HSPA+.

With Tegra 2 based smartphones like the ATRIX 4G and Optimus 2X around, it was only a matter of time until HTC got in on the dual-core game, and according to the latest rumors the company isn’t holding back. The HTC Pyramid , Android and Me’s sources claim, packs Qualcomm’s 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon MSM8260 processor, paired with Retina Display resolution matching 4.3-inch qHD 960 x 650 screen.

HTC is preparing a dual-core Android smartphone with a huge screen that will arrive to T-Mobile in the second quarter of the year, at least according to some rumors that surfaced today. Sources that preferred to remain anonymous told AndroidAndMe that the Taiwanese manufacturer is working on a Google Android powered device that will sport Qualcomm’s brand new dual-core Snapdragon processor clocking at 1.2 GHz (MSM8260).
