It’s been a busy week for Android enthusiasts. After a scare from Google and Verizon, we can rest better this weekend knowing that our Galaxy Nexus devices will continue to be supported by Google.
ComScore: Android and iOS gallop ahead, US smartphone usage approaches 100 million

The latest report is in from ComScore , and as you might expect, the news is sunshine and roses for the crews at Google and Apple. Both companies platforms charted some worthwhile month-over-month gains, as Android is estimated to account for 47.3 percent of smartphones in the US, while iOS runs a strong second with 26.9 percent.

Best Buy has announced that customers pre-ordering the Samsung Galaxy Note for AT&T beginning February 5th will receive a little something extra for their interest. Pre-ordering the Note at a Best Buy/Best Buy Mobile store or online earns future owners a flip cover case to protect that sizable 5.3-inch display.

One notable result was that total annual global shipments of smart phones exceeded those of client PCs (including pads) for the first time.
Apple and Samsung to pull in 90% of smartphone profits in 2012, UBS says

Industry watchers agree that smartphone sales will continue to balloon in 2012, but much of the projected growth will seemingly be enjoyed by just two companies. In a report to clients earlier this week, UBS analyst Maynard Um lowered his full-year unit sales projections for cell phones to 1.69 billion from his earlier estimate of 1.7 billion units.
