BlackBerry unveils the Bold Smarthphone

Out of the blue, with just a few rumours coming out a couple of days ago, BlackBerry suddenly unveils its newest smartphone model, the BlackBerry Bold. Already mobile phone industry analysts and spectators started calling the BlackBerry Bold as the newest competitor to the upcoming Apple 3G iPhone. But let’s leave the 3G iPhone for awhile and see what the BlackBerry Bold has to offer. Design wise, the BlackBerry Bold still exhibits the same classic professional common to all BlackBerry devices. From its lustrous black exterior, satin chrome finished frame to its stylish leather-like backplate, as well as its stunning display, sophisticated user interface and a newly designed QWERTY keyboard. Everything appears that RIM has exerted extra effort to make the BlackBerry Gold stand out just at first look. Looks are not all there is to the BlackBerry Gold. Inside its stunningly beautiful body are great mobile features. These features include; support for tri-band HSDPA and enterprise-grade Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g) networks, 624 MHz mobile processor, 128 MB flash memory plus a 1GB on-board storage memory, microSD/SDHC memory card slot, Blackberry productivity applications – phone, email, messaging, organizer and browser, compatible with other third-part mobile business and lifestyle applications, half-VGA (480×320) resolution color LCD that displays vibrant and sharp images and videos, on-the-go web browsing experience, trackball that mimics a mouse for easy navigation, support for streaming videos, powerful Wi-Fi and GPS, 2 megapixel camera with flash, 5 hours talk time and 13 days standby time and support for various digital music formats. AT&T introduces the RIM Blackberry Pearl 8120 to its wireless subscribers. The Blackberry Pearl 8120 is revitalized version of the old Blackberry Pearl which AT&T also carries under its network. AT&T is making the Blackberry smarthphone through its business plans for $199.99 with a two-year service contract less rebates and discounts. The Blackberry Pearl 8120 is loaded with business utilities perfect for corporate individuals. It has Wi-Fi capabilities with global roaming for voice calls in over 200 countries and email and web browsing in over 140 countries. Individuals who travel to different countries in the course of their work will find these features valuable for them. It will save them time checking office emails or sharing for needed data through the Blackberry Pearl’s improved web browsing speed via global GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity. The Blackberry Pearl is also a multi-function device that can also serve as a video recorded. Sprint Unveils New Phones for Q4 of 2007

Sprint is set to add four new smartphones and cellphones to their roster in Q4 this year and they have just released the official lineup, which consists of the HTC TOuch, with its full touchscreen technology, the RIM Blackberry Pearl 8130 otherwise known as the Blackberry Pearl 2,the Palm Centro, which is the slimmest Palm OS style with internal antenna, and lastly, the LG Rumor (hmm, something we all secretly love to listen to, eh?), which comes with a slide QWERTY keyboard. Pricing has not yet been announced though.
Blackberry 8820 Heads to the UK via Orange

The baddest Blackberry is said to hit the UK soon via the Orange network. The Blackberry 8820, though similar looks-wise to the 8800, is the first Berry to be equipped with Wi-Fi. It also comes with GPS support, a better media player similar to Curve’s, a microSDHC slot, plus standard features such as push-email and a QWERTY keyboard. We can expect Orange to publish rates and availability soon.

Blackberry Approved for Sale in China

Blackberry has been trying to penetrate the Chinese market for years — eight to be exact. In 1999, RIM (Research in Motion) has registered the Blackberry trademark in China and since then, has been working on granting access to the 500 million Chinese subscribers.
The Globe and Mail newspaper based in Toronto has reported that RIM has finally been granted the much awaited approval of the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry. It is definitely worth the wait asd there is a reported 5000 advance orders of the Blackberry 8700g, which will be for sale in China come August for the equivalent of around US$700.

Wi-Fi Enabled Blackberry Approved by FCC

Word on the street is that the FCC has approved the supposed successor of the 8800, but the more talked about fact is that this new communicator will be equipped with Wi-Fi!
The FCC documents reveal that the device will operate on GSM/EDGE 850/1900 MHz networks, will have Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g, Bluetooth interface and a microSD-slot. Expect RIM to release these Wi-Fi enabled Blackberries before the year is up.

Blackberry Pearl 8100 Full specs

The Blackberry Pearl’s full specs have been posted over at Pinstack’s forums. It will reportedly be thinner than the Razr, supports quad band GSM with EDGE, a 240×120 screen with 64Mb of internal memory to go with a microSD expansion slot.

Verizon launches EV-DO BlackBerry 7130e

Verizon officially announced that it is now selling the RIM BlackBerry 7130e handset. It is the first EV-DO RIM device in the US. Available for $300 with a 2 year contract.
The particular characteristics include fast download speed up to 600 kbps (but asymmetric upload at 1xRTT). However, unlike standard QWERTY-keyboard devices, this RIM has predictive text input which may or may not suit your taste.
