As far back as September, security researchers discovered a “critical” bug in many HTC Android handsets that exposed users’ WiFi credentials to any hacker who cared to look. The flaw affected recent devices like the Thunderbolt and EVO 4G all the way back to the Desire HD .

Some HTC Handsets Including the Thunderbolt had a WiFi Security Issue, May Have Already Been Fixed

Another security hole has been made public that affected a number of HTC handsets, including the Thunderbolt . The issue was first discovered back in September of 2011 and was then patched in most of the handsets through OTA updates without any of you knowing.

Wi-Fi security hole discovered in multiple HTC devices

HTC has acknowledged that some the company’s handsets contain a security hole involving the handling of certain data requests while connected to a Wi-Fi network. Security researchers Chris Hessing and Bret Jordan discovered the vulnerability, which could use the android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE permission to create a command to view all Wi-Fi credentials while connected to the network.

Verizon Systems Say February 10 is Actually the “All Channel” Launch for the DROID 4
