Nokia kicks off free London WiFi trial, eyes Africa and India

Nokia has revealed plans to kick off a free WiFi trial in London, UK, offering free internet access that could spread to other cities as the company’s wireless ambitions progress. The new scheme uses phone kiosks operated by  Spectrum Interactive  which offer up to 1Mbps downloads per user; registration will not be required, and you won’t need a Nokia device in order to access it. The two month trial will be operated until the end of the year, the BBC reports, with 26 hotspots initially.

Following revelations from Steve Jobs’ biography by Walter Isaacson, long simmering rumors of an Apple “iTV” television set have boiled over with the latest reports claiming it’s a matter of “when” and not “if.” A new wave of speculation on an upcoming Apple product certainly can’t be without concept renderings and that’s what we have here from artist Guilherme M. Apple shares jump up on iPhone 4S launch day

It appears that it’s not just the hoards of iPhone lovers that are heading to the market to jam their hard-earned dollars in the pockets of Apple Computer, stocks have jumped – or steadily rose, however you want to look at it, by right around 3% in the morning hours of iPhone 4S launch day. Since 10AM local time on October the 14th, 2011, the same day the iPhone 4S was launched, until the time of this posting (approximately 3:36 PM local time the same day), APPL stock rose 12.07 points for a total of 2.96 percent and trade at $420.50 per share, this showing the stock as rising quite nicely since September 19th when it was then big news that it’d hit a record high at $413.23 per share .

Never fear, Blackberry Tag isn’t another fail-laced tablet or other device coming from RIM. Tag is a new tech that users of Blackberry smartphones will be able to use to trade and share data with other Blackberry users.

AT&T wants Apple to have iPhone 4S show 4G

According to a leaked internal memo, AT&T is pressing Apple to follow along with the carrier’s marketing strategy by allowing the iPhone 4S status bar to show the “4G” indicator. Although still a 3G device, the next-gen iPhone is capable of AT&T’s HSPA+ network speeds, which the carrier is branding as 4G, although at the moment, true 4G is considered LTE or WiMAX.

Verizon iPhone TeleNav GPS App Available Now

Popular and ever-expanding GPS location and mapping service TeleNav is newly available today on Verizon’s iPhone 4. TeleNav is now a free app in the Apple App Store – this app will only be activated for download following the expected launch of Verizon’s iPhone 4 on February 10.

This prototype, presented by Windows Phone Hacker, features some fun changes that make it feel more like your beloved handheld gaming console, and less like your dated Windows Mobile Pocket PC, including a startup GIF animation of the original GameBoy Advance boot screen, custom software that keeps the OS in landscape mode, and custom notifications and ringtones from the Mario games.
