As a thank you for being patient during their system upgrades (which was causing most new customers trouble to sign up for a new connection), TELUS is offering their customers $100 off any device of their choice. TELUS made the following announcement earlier, regarding their upgrade: “As you are now aware TELUS systems will be down April 6 12:00am ET to April 8 11:00am ET (April 5 9:00pm PT to April 8 8:00am PT) in order to provide clients with a better experience.

It’s been nearly two months since Samsung’s LTE Galaxy Note made its debut in the land of maple syrup Canada, and now Telus and Bell might finally begin stocking the white variant of the Gingerbread-loaded phablet. According to (supposed) internal memos leaked from both companies to Mobile Syrup , it appears as though Bell’s planning to release the 5.3-inch device on April 10th, while Telus may let it loose as soon as tomorrow.

New Carriers Estimated to Own 6.5% of Canadian Wireless Subscriber Base by the End of 2012 Based on some recent stats it’s estimated that the total wireless subscriber base in Canada is 26,383,417, this is up about 7% from last year. Rogers is still leading the pack with 9,335,000 subscribers, with Bell and TELUS close behind.

Rogers Communications is keeping up its steady LTE rollout pace up north, lighting up Calgary, Alberta and Halifax, Nova Scotia, Monday and bringing its total 4G coverage to 12 million people. Given Canada’s much smaller population ( 35 million ), Rogers and its competitors are right on track to match the U.S.

Australian government sues Apple for ‘misleading’ 4G label on new iPad

Australia’s Competition and Consumer Commission plans to sue Apple for “misleading” claims when it comes to the new iPad offering 4G, because the device is not compatible with the country’s 4G networks. The new iPad has proven quite popular since its release earlier this month, with more than three million units sold in the first weekend of release in 10 countries, including the U.S.
