White Nokia Lumia 800 hits Australia in March

Nokia will launch its Lumia 800 Windows Phone in Australia come March, with the existing black, cyan and magenta variants joined by a white model. Offered on  Australian carriers Optus, Telstra, Vodafone “and all major retailers” no pricing for the Lumia 800 has been announced, but the smartphone will come complete with Nokia Drive for turn-by-turn navigation and Nokia Music for subscription-free streaming audio.

The fashionable stylings of the PRADA phone by LG 3.0 (most convoluted handset name ever?) will grace UK shores starting tomorrow courtesy of retailer Phones 4u . The handset features a greyscale custom interface and “Saffiano leather feel back” to match a feature set that includes a dual-core processor, 8MP camera, and ultra-bright NOVA display.

Ready to make heads turn with its monochromatic stylings, LG and Prada’s latest baby is presumably putting on a night-mask, ready to be unleashed on well-heeled types in the UK on Friday. Alongside the aforementioned custom Android skin (atop a Gingerbread OS), the Prada Phone by LG 3.0 packs a respectable dual-core processor, 8 megapixel camera and LG’s NOVA display — stretching up to 4.3 inches on this fashionista phone.

O2 data breach potentially shares your cellphone number with the world

There’s an alarming rumor circulating that suggests that UK network O2 forwards your cellphone number to any website you visit with your smartphone. Lewis Peckover built a webpage that displays your header data, finding a field called “x-up-calling-line-id” which was his own phone number.

HTC stripping Carrier IQ from CDMA phones this month

HTC has confirmed that it is removing any lingering trace of  Carrier IQ  from its CDMA handsets, including the HTC EVO 3D , as it moves to address the PR nightmare of the usage-tracking system. Furore over Carrier IQ broke late last year, when it was suggested by privacy advocates that some carriers and device manufacturers were preloading tracking software that periodically sent back user-information.

Verizon Wireless Officially Announces the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX; Alleges 21 Hours of Straight Talk Time.

The folks at Verizon have just officially unveiled the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX , an Android 2.3 smartphone that is pretty much a slightly thicker follow-up to the original Motorola DROID RAZR. Verizon and Motorola are touting its ability to allow users to talk on the phone for more than 21 hours straight.

  Not to be out done by the impressive lineup that AT&T just got done announcing here at CES, Verizon has popped off with two new DROID phones to add to their collection (well three technically if you count the DROID 4 ). The new DROID RAZR MAXX which is a slightly thicker RAZR, but with a beefed up battery and then a purple version of the original DROID RAZR are both on their way.

  And there she is, the DROID 4 . The specs for this phone are not a mystery whatsoever, but it’s official now thanks to a press release from Verizon and Motorola.

AT&T Nokia Lumia 900 “Ace” to drop Monday

Nokia’s Lumia 900 “Ace” for AT&T is set to launch officially on Monday at CES 2012 , according to insiders, with the smartphone expected to pack LTE for use on AT&T’s growing 4G network . The Monday reveal was tipped to the  NYTimes  by two sources with knowledge of the big launch, though exact specifications weren’t shared.

HTC HD8 hides out in Romania, Windows Phone app spills the beans

Somewhere out there in Romania is an HD8. Or at least it seems that way, according to recent device statistics captured on the Windows Phone app, “…I’m a WP7!” A report over on WPCentral pegs the rumoured HTC phone as running Build 7740 — which we’ve seen hit the Radar 4G and HD7 — on Vodafone’s network and could very possibly launch with Microsoft’s next mobile platform Apollo on board.
