LG Optimus 3D Max is Official

Shortly after taking wraps off the LG Optimus 3D Cube, the mobile maker has unveiled yet another handset destined for Mobile World Congress. The Android 2.3 Optimus 3D Max doesn’t differ much from the Cube, and is likely a variant of the device that will see an international release.

The landgrab for music streaming customers is on, and Rdio — the U.S.-based startup from Skype founders Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis — is joining that race in earnest. The company today announced that it is now live in Spain and Portugal, just one month after it launched in its first European service, in Germany.

Samsung partners with Blockbuster for streaming movie service

Samsung has partnered with Blockbuster to stream thousands of movies to the company’s smartphones, tablets, ultrabooks, laptops, smart TVs and Blu-ray players, reports Smarthouse . The service will reportedly be rolled out in the United States and Europe in the first half of 2012, with an Australian scheduled to take place by early September.

Korean phone maker LG, struggling amid fierce competition in the Android business, said on Tuesday that it has a new style that it plans to show off at next week’s Mobile World Congress. After some admittedly lackluster smartphone designs, LG said its new “L-Style” aims to go back to some of the heritage the company had with pre-smartphone era phones like the Chocolate.

Panasonic teases oversized Android flagship for MWC

Panasonic’s oddly named Eluga smartphone  will be just one of at least two Android smartphones the company brings to Mobile World Congress  it has confirmed, ahead of more ambitious consumer tablet plans in 2012. The company had never been shy about its European ambitions  for the next three to four years – aiming for 1.5m sales in Europe this year alone – and there will be at least two devices to help carve out a place in the Android marketplace, Panasonic told  Pocket-lint .
