
We don’t hear much from NEC here in the US on the tablet/smartphone front, but in Asia the company has several products that fall under those categories. Most of what we get from NEC in the US are projectors.

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group, which is the official organization for setting and maintaining Bluetooth standards, has just granted approval for the Nokia Lumia 719 phone. This comes as somewhat of a surprise since Nokia itself hasn’t yet confirmed the existence of the device, even though rumblings about it began last year.

We recently learned just which smartphone models Nokia may be preparing to show off at this year’s Mobile World Congress , including the Lumia 900 and Lumia 610. There’s another Lumia model that we’ve talked about in the past but haven’t heard much about lately, one that’s starting to make some noise again.

According to a recent Financial Times report, Fujitsu is planning on entering the European market this year with a number of Android-powered smartphones and tablets to go with its Windows Phones. The hardware maker is allegedly already in talks with network operators but it is yet unknown whether its line-up will be unveiled at the upcoming MWC or not.

Fujitsu once said that it didn’t have any plans to launch mobile handsets outside of Asia, but that strategy appears to be changing rapidly. Today comes a report that the Japanese handset maker — which makes both Android and Windows Phone-based devices — is planning to start selling its devices in Europe, with a debut to take place next week at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Bartle Bogle Hegarty today became the latest company to make the leap into social gaming, and it is on the lookout to give seed funding to social gaming developers who want to make the jump with them. The ad agency’s Asian division, BBH Asia Pacific, has opened a new venture, Chuck Studios , which will be run in partnership with one of its longtime clients, the confectionery giant Perfetti Van Melle — makers of Chupa Chups lollipops.

Looks like ZTE couldn’t hold its horses until MWC. It’s just unveiled product names and key specs (but alas no product photos) for two Android 4.0 thoroughbreds that’ll be shown off in Barcelona.
