Nokia 6555 Review

September 30, 2007

nokia-6555-3g-phone.jpgNokia is one company that marches to its own beat. When the thin Motorola Razr was released, Nokia waited and then released the Nokia N76. Now Nokia is revisiting the slim handset with the new Nokia 6555 for AT&T. Though it’s thicker than most of the slim phones out there, its tall shape gives it a soundly elegant look.Features of the Nokia 6555: It has Bluetooth, a music/video player, and support for the Push-to-Talk (PTT) feature. Call quality was quite nice, but the talk time battery life was much too low. The 6555 sells for $49 with service. Read more

September 28, 2007

infobar2-5.jpgA concept phone turned into a reality, that’s what the Infobar 2 is. Announced as a concept phone in October last year, the Infobar 2 is an updated version of the Infobar that now sports a distinctive shape — a slim, rectangular body with rounded angles in funky color combinations, which include the keypads as well. The INFOBAR 2 comes with a 240×400 2.6-inch display screen, microSD card slot, 2 megapixel camera and a battery charging station where you can charge your battery on its dock directly. We will keep you updated on the features of this phone as they become available.

Armani Phone Update - Built-in Alarm System

September 28, 2007

armani_phone_1_big.jpgSo we blogged about the newest designer phone in our previous post. But we failed to mention its built-in security system that I believe, no other phone has — yet.

The emergency alarm system works this way, first, you have to pre-program the numbers of the 5 people closest to you and save them under a special group. Now, when you are in a tight situation and are in need of help, just press the volume button 4 times, which, in turn will trigger the safety feature and will automatically alert these five people via SOS text messages. Remember that the phone is also equipped with an integrated GPS system enabling your closest friends and relatives, with the help of authorities, I presume, to track you down ASAP. Now don’t be the boy who cried wolf because of this feature. We sincerely hope that through this innovation, that all other phone manufacturers could come up with built-in security or emergency systems for all phones. Hats off to Samsung and Armani!

Newest Designer Phone Struts Down the Catwalk

September 25, 2007

ada1df0c9_samsung_armani_poutak.jpgThe hottest Armani design struts it stuff down the catwalk as the Samsung P520 otherwise known as the Armani phone, was unveiled at the latest Giorgio Armani fashion show. What we all thought was going to be a year-end release launched earlier, however, it is going to be thicker than intially reported, and unlike the leaked photos, this one now proudly has Giorgio Armani proudly emblazoned on it.The credit-card sized, keypadless, full touchscreen phone has an official thickness of 10.5 mm, contrary to the initial 8.9mm reports. I guess aside from that, all the other features listed here will push through.

To Armani hags, watch out as the fashion house is set to team-up with Samsung in other products, including LCD TVs, as well. Hmm. You like?

Hack your iPhone, Void your Warranty

September 24, 2007

That’s the message that an Apple store seemed to say to Jason O’Grady seems when he tried to have a hacked and unlocked Apple iPhone serviced. He was reportedly told that, because the iPhone was hacked, warranty was voided and, in effect, the unit is blacklisted “against future service, or return.” They were able to get the Apple store rep to accept the unit for return, but were charged a 10% restocking fee to return a unit that was barely 2 weeks old. It is yet unconfirmed whether this is now company-wide policy or if it’s just store manager initiative. iPhone owners, consider yourselves warned. Hack and void, or stay in AT&T. Or wipe out your iPhone and put the AT&T sim back in if you want to try to return the unit for service or replacement. Good luck to you, either way.

Music Cellphone: Motorola ROKR E8

September 19, 2007

motorola-rokr-e8-motorokr-e8.jpgRumors have been circulating about a new music phone from Motorola. The phone in question, identified as the Motorola ROKR E8, is apparently set to launch in Europe by the 4th quarter of this year, if not then the 1st quarter of 2008. Well, it’ll come out soon.

The E8 features a backlit keypad which only displays controls relevant to the function you are currently using, haptic controls which gives you vibration feedback each time you press a key, and an interestingly different navigation tool called the Omega wheel. One might assume that it’s called as such because it is shaped similar to the last letter of the greek alphabet, Omega.

Touchscreen Watch-Phone: IMobile C1000

September 18, 2007

imobile-c1000-71.jpgimobile-c1000-1.jpgIMobile’s C1000 (M600) is a GSM phone-watch. It features USB and Bluetooth (A2DP) connectivity, a 1.5 inch touch screen, and character recognition software, which sadly is only useful if you happen to be fluent in Chinese. It has multimedia functions (audio and video player) that rely on a measly 60MB of internal memory with no option for expansion, rendering said features quite moot. However, all this doesn’t take away the fact that it is the smallest touch-screen phone watch out there. So if you’re willing to pay the price (which is currently unknown) when it hits the market (which is an unknown as well) instead of waiting a couple of more years for what might be a better version, go for it!
