Palm Treo 700w Review by The New York Times

David Pogue at the NY Times has given the Treo 700w a mixed review. The first major change in the Treo handheld that Palm created has been the shift to the Microsoft Mobile operating system.
With some features, there has been a seamless integration. It is now easier to make conference calls, personalize individual caller IDs and immediately silence calls. There is an improved camera phone at 1.3 megapixels, speakerphone and beefy battery with 4.5 hours of talktime.
The Treo 700w also has access to Verizon’s 3G broadband service called EV-DO that lets you access the Internet at nearly the speed of a cable modem.
On the other hand, OS bloat rears its ugly face frequently. You’ll need to make multiple taps to get at programs and programs don’t quit automatically and stay in the background eating up memory that may be required later.
On the hardware front, the Bluetooth is crippled by Verizon so you can’t use the Treo 700w as a wireless antenna for your computer.
