Camera phones to remain hot
December 31, 2005
The camera-enabled cellular phone market is booming, as shipments are expected to reach nearly 1 billion units by the end of this decade, according to a new report.
In total, the market for camera-enabled cellular phones is expected to grow from 225 million units in 2004, to 365 million units in 2005, to 475 million in 2006, to 600 million in 2007, to 780 million by 2008, according to the report from IC Insights Inc. (Scottsdale, Ariz.).
This is truly a phenomenon of Asia as I don’t have anecdotal experience to back this up. My own opinion is that current camera phones suck in terms of image quality. I guess in Asia (and possibly Europe) because of the population density and lack of cars, people tend to walk around more and don’t like carrying around multiple devices such as a phone and a camera.

December 31, 2005
Want to look like Geordie LaForge from Star Trek: The Next Generation? Orange France has come out with video glasses that project an image onto your retinas (don’t know how that actually works and it sounds a little dangerous, but I digress…) for the Samsung D600.
Obviously taking a page out of Motorola’s marketing department and their promotion of the Razrwire.

Tattooing Cell Phone Numbers on Kids
December 31, 2005
In our attempts to keep our children safe, some parents are turning to tattooing important information such as cell phone numbers on their children. The tattoos are temporary and are appealing to kids than simply writing down in pen a cell phone number on a child’s hand.

New Handbag Charges Electronic Devices
December 26, 2005
This purse is not just any purse, it is a “power purse”. You’re probably thinking what the heck is a power purse? An Iowa State University engineering grad student, designed the power purse that can charge all your mobile devices ranging from your cell phone (of course) to your PDA while out on the street doing your daily business. It works by having six solar panels incorporated into the exterior design. If you ask me, it basically looks like a normal ordinary hand bag.

College Launches Cell Phone Film Contest
December 22, 2005
An Ithaca College dean is launching a cell phone film contest. High school and college students across the United States are invited to submit a 30 second movie shot entirely on a cell phone for a $5,000 prize.
The rules of the contest are simple.
There must be a story, a narrative and sound, and the film must be shot on a cell phone. The movies can be edited digitally on a computer or a cell phone that has editing functions.
The submission deadline is Jan. 10. A winner will be chosen from among 10 finalists and announced online Jan. 30.
Sounds like a perfect contest to test out the Nokia N90.
