BlueSky Posiitoning’s GPS-integrated SIM Card

In accordance with the EU’s emergency call legislation, BlueSky Positioning, a startup company, is launching the A-GPS SIM (Assisted Global Positioninh System) SIM card, which has an integrated GPS receiver and proprietary antenna into, which in turn would provide accurate locations in a timely and cost-effective manner.

This breakthrough product, which would cost would range from €100 and €500for a new handset, could very well advance location-based (LBS) services and accuracy based applications, such as, routing, bavigation, tracking, personal security,and zone-based billing, throughout the cellphone and wireless industry.

Cellphones: T-Mobile Sidekick iD Cnet Review

Cnet has a review up for T-Mobile’s new Sidekick iD. They felt that while the T-Mobile Sidekick iD does offers all the great messaging capabilities of the Sidekick 3 at half the price, the rest of the iD’s feature set is very limited and too barebones. It looks like the Sidekick iD will appeal to young, budget concious consumers.

Samsung SGH-i400Samsung recently announced their latest Symbian OS smartphone in the form of the SGH-i400 at the S60 summit in Madrid, Spain. The i400 features a bold “symbian OS” branding in the upper right corner of the phone, packs a 2 megapixel camera, dedicated MP3 key, stereo speakers, A2DP Bluetooth, microSD expansion slot, support for full web browsing on the 2.3 inch wide display. This triband GPRS EDGE smartphone will be available in Russia in July, and creep its way across Europe shortly after that.

Cellphone: Pantech C810 gets FCC OK

The good folks at the FCC recently just approved the Pantech C810, supposedly for AT&T. Not much information is available on the phone, but the handset is rumored to support WCDMA 850/1900 networks. Updates to be posted when more information becomes available.

Cellphone Rumors and Pictures: Sony S500i

Sony S500iImages of what looks like a new Sony Ericsson handset have been making the rounds online. While the pictures show a creative model number of SE123, everyone seems to think that it’s the Sony Ericsson S500i. At the moment it’s all speculation, including the phone’s supposed HSDPA capabilities, 2 mega pixel camera and QVGA display. Watch this space for updates.

Mexican Cellphone: Pantech S100

Pantech S100Pantech recently launched the S100, a simple phone in candy bar form factor, in an attempt to raise market share in Mexico. The S100 comes with a full-featured digital camera wit 4X zoom and video recording capability, an MP3 player, and Bluetooth connectivity. This tri-band GSM GPRS handset also has a voice memo function, a 1.8 inch 260k color TFT LCD, 64 polyphonic ringtones and speaker phone function. The design is one of four Pantech products recently honored at the 2007 iF (international Forum) Design Awards.

Samsung W2700A recent IT show in Korea saw the unveiling of another Samsung handset. The SPH-W2700 HSDPA handset is a super slim phone, also known as the “3D video phone.” Sporting quad-band HSDPA in a body that’s just 11.9mm thick, the W2700 also features a 2.3 inch 262k color TFT main display as well as a 0.9 inch external OLED screen. The W2700 is also possesses an MP3 player, Video on Demand, digital camera and video conferencing capabilities.

Motorola V1110Just when you thought that the MOTORAZR line of phones was going the way of the dinosaur, Motorola goes ahead and announces the Maxx v1100 cellphone. This HSDPA clamshell possesses a 1.3 megapixel camera for serious picture taking and a VGA camera for video conferencing, stereo Bluetooth and a sizeable speaker which takes up a lot of phone bottom front face, which suggests that it’ll produce good quality sound. Mobile consumers in Canada will soon be able to get their hands on the (PRODUCT) RED branded KRZR K1 and at the same time help do some good with their purchase. For every purchase of a (PRODUCT) RED KRZR K1, Motorola will make a donation to the Global Fund, “an innovative public-private partnership created to finance a dramatic turnaround in the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.”

IIt is not known which carrier will be lucky enough to sell it or for how much, but it will be out for sale soon.
