Cellphone: Tamagotchi Phone for AT&T
March 31, 2007
Bandai, together with PlayPhone, are coming up with the latest in mobile entertainment: Tamagotchi Phone. Well, ok. Tamagotchi on mobiles isn’t exactly a new concept, but the thing that makes this different is the fact that these prepaid mobile devices allow users (kids presumably) to convert their prepaid minutes to credits on Tamaphone.com. Users will have access to wallpapers, ringtones and games without use of credit cards or any adult supervision (website content will be moderated by adults of course). No information is yet available on when this handset is coming out and how much it’s going to cost exactly, but the estimate is 100$.

March 31, 2007
The latest news on CNET states that AT&T (formerly known as cingular) has “confirmed” the 11th of June as the day when Apple’s iPhone gets released into the wild. Well, confirmation in this case didn’t come through official channels per se, but supposedly from some front-line sales support individual. The stated release date coincides with Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference where Mr. Jobs and company usually announce their newest developments. We’ll have to wait and see then won’t we?

Introducing another incredible development from Samsung! Samsung has recently developed a 2.1 inch LCD panal that’s capable of QVGA resolution and comes with sensors that detect ambient light and adjust the display brightness accordingly. The panel also has a temperature compensation sensor that helps to keep operations steady despite any external temperature changes. The new display, designed for high-end mobile phones, PDAs and portable media players, will consume 20 to 30 percent less power than other displays of the same dimensions and resolution. The 1 mm thick display will begin production in the 2nd half of this year.

Cellphone Rumor: A new candybar from Sony Ericsson
March 29, 2007
Based on several images that have recently been floating on the net, it seems that Sony Ericsson’s working on a new K-series handset. The picture shows that the handset will have a digicam similar to the K510i, combined with a large keypad design found on handsets like the J100i. From the looks of it, this handset might prove to be an entry to mid-level handset. Considering that SE has got a whole butt load of such phones already, one is made to wonder what will make this one particularly special. We’ll all have to wait and see.

Nokia N95 Starts Shipping
March 29, 2007
Nokia has recently begun shipping the N95 to European, Asian and Middle Eastern Markets. The N95, packed to the brim with features with 3G support might very well give the iPhone something to worry about. As previously mentioned in another blog entry, the N95’s features include GPS with maps of over 150 different countries and over 15 M points of interest. It also carries a 5 megapixel camera, an FM radio, TV out and office document viewer. It’s a visual stunner, and its features and 3G support capability (one up on the iPhone) makes it, at the very least, worth considering. It’ll be awhile before it becomes available in the US so we’ll have to wait just how it will fare against the iPhone.

Cellphone Rumor: Vodafone to carry iPhone
March 29, 2007
Apple granted Cingular (now AT&T) exclusive rights to distribute the iPhone in the US, and it looks like Vodaphone might be granted the same privilege for the European market. At least that’s what Vodaphone is hoping for as they are in talks at the moment. Apple hopes to be able to make its European launch of the iPhone by the end of the year.
